Preserving History
AMS Oral Histories are now included in NOAA's Voices Oral History Archives, which collects interviews "related to the changing environment, climate, oceans and coasts since 2003".
Data and Software Guidelines
AMS Publications has recently updated and expanded the Data and Software Policy Guidelines for authors. The guidelines now explicitly include guidance around software and model data output that support published articles in our journals. Also included are specific examples of how to cite these supporting resources, as well as a wide range of examples of Availability Statements, which are now required of all submissions to the journals. If you have any questions regarding the guidelines or AMS’s data and software policies, please contact datapolicy@ametsoc.org.

The Weather Band Jamposium was a wonderful event! Many thanks to the organizers and the experts who shared their experiences and knowledge, and to attendees—who asked some great questions! The presentations and Q&A gave all attendees a better understanding of weather, preparedness, climate, communication, and more! If you missed any of the sessions, recordings will be available soon to all members of AMS and the Weather Band.

“Just as the impacts of changes to snow resources will not be felt equally everywhere, the response of snow to anthropogenic climate change will look very different in different places. I am currently working on improving our understanding of where and how anthropogenic climate change has affected seasonal snowpacks, both in their long-term trends and in the likelihood of extremes like snow droughts.”
—Alexander Gottlieb (Dartmouth College). Alexander's article in the February BAMS seeks to find agreement on what constitutes a "snow drought" in order to aid in the prediction of and preparation for their impacts. Read more of his interview in your
