WWOSC 2014 Report Special Joint Panel on the Future of the Weather Enterprise

An Open Science Conference was organized by WMO in Montreal in August 2014 in which three special Panels sponsored by the Canadian Meteorological Society and the American Meteorological Society were organized to discuss the “Future of the Weather Enterprise” for Public Good. The global framework of climate services identified four priority areas: Health, Water, food security and disaster risk reduction.

Report on GFDRR-GWE Meeting, 28 November 2017

This article has been written as a follow-up of the workshop organized by the Global Facility for Disaster Recovery and Reconstruction (GFDRR) of the World Bank Group (WBG) with the assistance of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the American Meteorological Society (AMS). It presents a summary of the workshop as well as issues faced by Global Weather Enterprise (GWE) and what needs to be done to resolve those issues. The article is based the information provided to attendees by the workshop organizers and the proceedings of the Workshop as well as some of his own ideas have been added by the author.

Report on the GWE Seminar 2017

A Global Weather Enterprise (GWE) Seminar, organised by the World Bank Group in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), was held in Washington DC on 28 November 2017. Participants from across the public, private and academic sectors were invited to the Seminar to discuss the opportunities and risks associated with the future of the GWE. Around 70 GWE leaders from the three sectors participated in the event with World Bank staff acting as rapporteurs. The Seminar was facilitated by the American Meteorological Society.
