Italian Meteorological Society
Purpose and Objective
Società Meteorologica Italiana is the principal meteorological association in Italy. Its main purposes are:
- scientific research about alpine climatology and glaciers;
- popularization of meteorological information, climate-related and environmental challenges (public conferences, school and university classes, collaboration with newspapers and radio-television networks);
- safeguard and maintenance of historical meteorological observatories and their data-series (in WMO “Centennial Observing Station” programme framework);
- ancient meteorological instruments musealization.
