IFMS Global Meeting Two

The Second Global Meeting (GM2) of the International Forum of Meteorological Societies (IFMS) was successfully held 3-4 November 2011 in Xiamen, Fujian Province, China. The meeting theme focused on ways to further develop and improve the functions and roles of meteorological societies around the world. A total of 34 representatives from 16 countries, regions and related organizations, including 5 members of the IFMS Steering Committee, attended this two-day meeting. Topics that were actively discussed within the four sessions included education and training pertaining to global climate change, academic activity organizing methods and practices, society journal development, and practical post-meeting action items. Dr. Qin Dahe, President of the Chinese Meteorological Society, chaired the meeting, and Dr. Xu Xiaofeng, Deputy Administrator of the China Meteorological Administration, delivered an enthusiastic and stimulating presentation at the Opening Ceremony.
